Living for the glory of God

Frances Fountain went to be with her Lord and Saviour on March 28. She was 92 and is survived by four children, nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She spent almost a lifetime in Christian service at Spring Road Evangelical Church Southampton. Much of this was alongside her husband, David Fountain whose memorial page is here, who served as pastor and was called home in 2004. Frances was also a prolific writer of Bible teaching materials for children.

Frances had been ill for several years but her trust in God was strong. She talked about Jesus with the many carers and visitors at her home and explained how she eagerly looked forward to heaven.

How to give – to a cause dear to Frances

There’s no need to send flowers. But if you wish to give in some way, please consider supporting a cause dear to Frances’ heart. She gave towards the building of sewing centres, collected sewing machines and made up sewing boxes for the ladies with all needed accessories. This meant women at churches in Sri Lanka could earn an income and avoid having to leave their families and work abroad. (See some pictures)

We hope to set up and support more sewing centres today. See the JustGiving page for more details.

Frances’ work as an author

Frances had a wonderful gift in communicating in-person with children. But she was also a prolific writer of Christian teaching materials for children. Thousands of her resources have been sold in the UK and also translated and used around the world.
